Ricky Brabec has been all but unstoppable as this year has progressed winning Score Races, BITD Races and National Hare Scrambles on top of this years AMA/SRT National Hare and Hound Championship! Round 9 was more of the same as he would take his THR Motorsports/FMF backed KX 450f across the Speed Freak Bomb line first nabbing the lead, and $300, from the very start and never looking back. He would have company for the first 60 miles as Factory Husquvarna’s Jacob Argubright was side by side with him through the first was and would settle in just behind his dust coming into the main pits just seconds back. A few miles out of the pits Argubright would again be struck by the bad luck that has been plaguing him all season as his rear tire would disintegrate forcing him back to the pits to change the wheel and giving 2nd overall to Purvines Beta’s Nick Burson.

Burson would do what he could to try and catch Brabec but at that point there was a 6 minute gap so he just put his head down, rode his own race and made sure to get in to the finish safe. 3rd would be a very close race between Burson’s team mate Axel Pearson and Zip Ty Husky’s Justin Morgan. Morgan had one of the best rides of his career going and the area suited him as it was very similar to Baja and his native District 38 in many areas but also had a great mix of single track. Pearson would round out the podium only 6 seconds ahead of Morgan. They would have another 6 minutes on another Purvines Beta with Justin Morrow rounding out the top 5.

Top local honors would go to MRANN’s own Dennis Belingheri who would use his home town advantage to come through in 6th just ahead of KTM/FMF’s Ivan Ramirez. Ramirez would struggle with a bad start and taking a wrong turn on the first loop and do what he could to salvage points for the championship.

Brabec now has a firm hold on the title but anything can happen and if Burson takes the next win at the finale and Brabec finishes 10th or worse it will be in Burson’s hands.

See you all at Round 10 October 25th-26th in Lucerne Valley for the wrap up of the very very exciting 2014 Season!
