Mexico’s Best Kept Secret: RECORD’s Ensenada to San Felipe

📅22 June 2014, 18:40

Almost 150 race teams showed up to Ensenada  to race the RECORD Ensenada to San Felipe 250.  Whoever thinks Class 5/1600 or 1-2 1600 are dying classes needs to attend a RECORD race. There were 15 1-2 1600s and 13 5/1600s entered. Another strong representation was in Class 11 stock bug which had 15 cars at the start line. Tech was held at the North end of Ensenada just passed the infamous Anthony’s bar. The energy of tech was like that of a Baja 500 or 1000. Tech was packed with fans and race teams well passed 11:00pm. The music was pumping and the drinks were flowing, off-road racing is a true passion in Mexico. Many of RECORD’s race courses are  on sections of the Baja 500 and 1000. This race strarted in Ojos Negros and finished in the sand wash in San Felipe. To race these historic sections of Baja for an entry fee of about $400, is priceless! To help the race teams with safety the highway section from the goat trail to San Matias was a non-race section. At the bottom of the goat trail your time was taken at the checkpoint. You then would pit with your team somewhere between Valle De La Trinidad and San Matias. The race and your time resumed again at the checkpoint in San Mitias and you were on the way to the finish in San Felipe. Please note that the results posted are unofficial and only 3 class 11 cars were finished at the time the results were printed. Many more class 11 cars finished.
